Club History

The St Helen's Spartans have been operating since 1976, when a bunch of friends found they had Wargaming in common and started meeting above a butchers shop.

The club prospered and found new premises in Merton Bank road, where its proximity to a canal eventually caused the club to seek alternative residence.

This was found over a small mini supermarket in Ashton in Makerfield where we stayed for 20 years.

We are now in new premises at Ruskin Drive Sports Ground St Helen's were we intend on staying for a good while.

The Club plays a wide range of games including Flames or War, Hail Ceaser, Warhammer, D&D, Black Powder, Boardgames and many other rules systems.

We meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the odd weekend game thrown in for good measure.

Welcome

Welcome to the St Helens Spartans Wargames Blog! The Blog will be a series of pages added to by club members and commented on by you!

The purpose of it is to provide a convenient place to talk about the club and games we put on.

From week to week I will post images, write ups and information on past and upcoming games we intend on running at the club with a view to new members seeing what we are about as well as existing members discussing the games we are playing.

So feel free to add your comments and join in the fun!
